inspired

Daydreaming is a wonderful thing and I do it a lot!  I’ve been so inspired these past couple of days that I’ve been in constant daydream mode, seriously.  I’m filling up my sketchbook so quickly that I’m about ready to start a new one (which I’m extremely excited about by the way, because my brother bought me a new one with little birdies on it!)  You know when I’m in major daydream mode when I don’t have any music, TV, or anything on as I move about the studio, house or wherever I am.  It can be sort of dangerous having this much inspiration running through my head, because I don’t remember what I was doing while in such deep thought… kind of scary!  I’m just soaking it all in right now and prepping for the Summer Horseshoe Market this Saturday.  It’s going to be a fun day with my mom and hopefully I’ll see some of you there.

I’ve also been inspired outside of the studio, too!  Secret – I’m the only one in my family that doesn’t have a pastry or culinary bone in my body, but I love to try new recipes!  They don’t always turn out as intended, but I have fun and I’m learning.  This past week, however, I surprised myself and actually turned out three great recipes that even looked somewhat like the photographs!  Nice, right?!  I feel like I want to be a master of all things creative and I won’t stop until I get there.  So, I’m riding this welcomed wave of inspiration and I’ll see where it takes me next.

What inspires you?  Does it send you into deep thought leaving you almost exhausted at the end?  Yup!  Me too!  Have a great night and I’ll see you tomorrow! ♥r

{diy} jam butter

I love magazines and Country Living has to be my current favorite.  They always share so many lovely recipes and crafts and I try a lot of them.  This time I tried to make some jam butter with my mom’s homemade raspberry jam.  For some reason mine didn’t come out as fluffy as I had pictured, but it sure does taste wonderful!  You can find the recipe here and it really would make a great house-warming gift.  Let me know if you try it! ♥r

{diy} Goat Cheese Pizza

Saturday was a much-needed rainy day here, so we decided to try this recipe that I found on Pinterest the other day.  It came out so good and I highly recommend it!  Basically it’s pesto, tomatoes, mushrooms and goat cheese all spread out on pizza dough… so yum!  Check it out here for the full recipe and how too and let me know what you think! ♥r

{sunday best} comfy in my roblin tee

This weekend has been a full of movies, shopping and trying out new recipes.  Since we’ve been getting a lot of rain here, we had to keep busy inside, which has turned out to be great!  Later this week I’ll be sharing three yummy recipes with you that I just tried for the first time, but first here is my first {sunday best} post!  I’m excited because this weekly series will allow me to share one of my outfits each Sunday.  This week I got caught in the rain while taking these photos, but that’s what kept it interesting and fun.  I wonder what next week will bring?  I’ll see you tomorrow for the first of the three recipes, and don’t forget that all Roblin Tees have FREE SHIPPING now through July 14th! ♥r

Thursday Randoms

I hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th or July!  Ron and I hopped around and visited friends and family and ended up back home to watch the fireworks from our backyard.  We have the absolute best view with no crowds.  Colorado put bans on personal fireworks this year and canceled a lot of the city fireworks due to the fires we’ve had recently.  So, we were lucky to still have our city’s display.

I’ve also been busy prepping for the Summer Horseshoe Market, as well as working on a few {diy} projects that I’ll be sharing soon.  Oh!  Don’t forget that there is FREE SHIPPING on all Roblin Tees now through July 14th!  Then this Sunday I’ll be sharing my newest weekly feature, {sunday best}, where I’ll share my Sunday Best Outfit with you.  I’m very excited about this new feature for many reasons; one of the biggest being because you requested to see more of my outfits, and this is what I came up with!

I had better get back to work, but stay cool and remember not to leave your pets in a hot car, as inside temperatures can reach deadly numbers!!!  If you see someone doing so, call the police and tell them right away. ♥r

Sharing

Ello!  So, over the past couple of months, I’ve had several of you ask for me to share more about myself.  I have to apologize, because at first I thought I was sharing lots about myself, but at a second glance I realized that I wasn’t sharing as much as I really wanted to.  I mean, I share what I do and what I like, but not much about myself (photos, stories, adventures, etc.).  A few of you have asked for me to share some of my outfits, as well.  I’ve been told that you’ve seen glimpses of them, but you’d like to see more.  That sounds fun to me!  So, I’ve decided to start a {sunday best} post which will share just that, my Sunday Best outfit with you.  It’ll be a weekly feature every Sunday sharing one of my outfits, starting this Sunday.

I’ve also been asked to share more about my creative process.  So, I’ll be sure to share more peeks into projects that I’m working on and things like that.  I love this idea, and thank you for helping me realize that I fell into a bit of a rut where I thought I was doing one thing, but really doing another.  You all are so great and I thank you for your continued support in Chickiedee. ♥rl

{Featured Sponsor} July

Happy July 1st!  July 4th is right around the corner for us here in the USA so things are getting pretty exciting!  This month I wanted to feature one of my Sponsors, Daina.  You might know her from  New York State of Mind, where she shares all of her adventures in New York.  She is such a sweet and kind person and you can get to know a little more about her right now, so enjoy!

Here’s a little blurb about my blog:

Hi! I’m Daina. I moved to New York City in 2003 to attend NYU and instantly fell in love with my new home. Years later, I still pinch myself as I walk through the city to make sure I am not dreaming. The energy, people, and sights are unlike anywhere else. I feel very lucky to be a New Yorker!

1. What is your favorite hobby?

One of my favorite hobbies is photography. I have had a passion for photography since I took my first class in junior high. I went on to take a second class in high school, and then a semester course while I studied abroad in Italy during college. Much of what I learned in those classes has been forgotten over the years, but the desire to capture my life and experiences from behind a camera has remained. After starting my blog a few years ago, my passion for photography grew. I was incredibly inspired by the blogs I read, and wanted to take my point and shoot style of picture taking to the next level. I invested in my first digital SLR camera, researched and purchased a few lenses, and started seeing my life and New York City in a whole new light through my camera. What I love about photography is that it has allowed me to appreciate things in my life that I might not have noticed without my camera in hand. New York City is such an amazing place, and I feel so lucky to get to capture it with my camera and share it on my blog

2. What is a current goal that you have made?

One of my most recent goals I set was to travel abroad. I have had the travel itch since my last big trip abroad, which was to Brazil in 2007. When my friend Joanna emailed me a few months about her Habitat Global Village build in Malawi, I knew I had to go! I am so excited to explore Africa this summer and build a home for a family in need in Mzuzu, Malawi. It will be an adventure unlike any other I have taken.

3. What are you most thankful for? Why?

I am thankful for so many things in my life, it is hard to choose just one! I am so incredibly thankful to have a career that I wholeheartedly love. I started teaching second grade at a charter school in Brooklyn four years ago, and feel so fortunate to absolutely love where I work and what I do. My school strives to teach children to see the connections between school and the world. Our curriculum is social studies based, and each grade focuses on a few studies throughout the school year. In second grade, we study urban parks, transportation, and the history of the Brooklyn Bridge. I love taking my kids out into the city to teach them about their community. I wake up every day excited to go to work and teach! I am constantly inspired by the people I work with and my students.

I am also thankful for the love in my life. I would not be the person I am today without the love and support from my family, friends, and boyfriend Brian. I am a very lucky girl!

4. Any links that you would like to share:

Thank you so much, Daina, for not only allowing me to feature you, but also so being such a sweet and amazing Sponsor!  You have such a kind heart and I’m so excited to see that you’re living a happy and inspired life.  I can’t wait to hear all about your trip, so be safe and take some amazing photos!  Thanks again! ♥rl

Making it Personal with Inspirational Quotes

I was excited to hear that Danica, over at The Nerdy Penguin, shared how she was inspired by my Inspirational Quotes post.  She took a few of her favorite quotes and used pens and magazines that she had lying around to create her own version of this project.  Check it out here and if you do your own version of this project, feel free to share it!  I’d love to see!  Thanks Danica! ♥RobbieLee
