{humpday tutorial} DIY Umbrella

What a great idea!  It’s so simple, yet very adorable.  It is difficult to find that umbrella that fits your personality, or in this case – sense of humor, so why not make your own?!  Visit paperplateandplane.com for the full how-to.  All you need is a clear umbrella, images to trace, a sharpie and a paint marker.

off the rim

Oh my goodness, these look beautiful and tasty.  I would have never thought to use sprinkles to rim a glass of punch or milk.  As most of you know, my hubby and I don’t drink, so we are always looking for great mocktails!

{ohsolovely} I couldn’t find the original source for this image.  If anyone knows, please let me know, thanks! — I’m absolutely smitten with this image and idea.  The colors are what instantly attracted me, but it looks so yummy too.

{source} Through in some cookies and I’m there!

{penandpaperflowers} …Pink sugar, oh my!

{humpday tutorial} dress re-vamp

I love a good bargain, but sometimes it can get me into trouble.  I bought this cute little summer dress from Target for $3, and didn’t try it on before the purchase.  I knew better, but did it anyway.  When I got home and tried it on, it fit great everywhere, but in the shoulders.  I’ve never had this problem before, so I chalked it up to a manufacturing error (smile).  After debating on whether or not to donate it, I decided to try and fix it.  Glad I did too!  Below is a mini tutorial on how I fixed my mini problem.  Maybe it will help you if you find yourself in a similar situation.

Before…

Tools: Scrap fabric, thread, sewing machine, scissors, and a straight-edge.

Measure the thickness of your straps and add about 1/2 in. sewing allowance and cut your strap pieces.

Fold your fabric strip in half (wrong side out), and sew along the open edge.  Repeat for both straps.

Then flip each strip right-side out.  You may have to use tweezers or a safety pin to help, depending on the thickness of your strap.

Cut as close to the sewn joint on each side as possible.  Toss the little scrap.

Now you’re ready to sew all of your pieces together.  Be sure to sew the seem-side down (where it will be hidden).  Sew each end to the ends on your cut strap and repeat on the other side.

Your finished piece should look something like this!  Yay!

Thanks for stopping by!

{humpday tutorial} T-Shirt Dress

When I saw this I was like, “Wowzah!  I want to make one out of my husbands t-shirts!”  It wouldn’t be the first time that I raided his closet to re-purpose his clothing!  Last time my mom and I took all of his favorite shirts and put them into a quilt.   Sometimes I think he wishes he could still wear those shirts, but he can wrap up in his quilt a cry about it! hahahahahahaha

No, really though, I want to make one of these t-shirt dresses and you can too!  Kim from Yellow Songbird gives you the full tutorial on her site, so be sure to check it out!  Thanks Kim!

DIY: Bird Wings

I’m in love with these precious handmade bird wings!  Oh my goodness are they cute!  I found the tutorial over at llevoelinvierno! and Eri gives you the full how-to here.  The best thing about this project, is that your little one will love running around in it all year around and you can make it out of the fabric scraps that you already have lying around.  Each set can by completely different!  I have to make a pair of these!

{humpday tutorial} Easter Pastry Toppers

I just love how quick and easy these Pastry Toppers are to make.  They are just foamy-glittery Easter Egg Stickers stuck together with a tooth pick wedged between them!  Not to mention, it only costs a dollar or two!  Woo-hoo, now, that’s my sort of last minute party spunk.

{humpday tutorial} lil shamrock

How sweet is this lil shamrock?!  I think it’s a great way to avoid being pinched this St. Patrick’s Day.  The great thing is that you can skip the iron-on fusing, and just stitch it on for the day.  Then you can snip it right off come the 18th.  Easy-peasy!  Find the complete tutorial over at momtastic.
