Mar, 13It’s Gonna Be Busy
This week is going to be so busy. Today and tomorrow I have to wrap up the house and finish staging it. Then Wednesday, I have to take Brutus to his follow-up eye appointment. Yes, he has another eye issue. I don’t know what’s going on with the poor little guy, but I hope to have him fixed in no time. I’ll have some house hunting and home staging tips up on here soon. I just have to wrap up the house and take some photos. I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

Mar, 13{Life Lately} Packing + House Hunting
This past week has been full of packing, driving things to storage and house hunting. Our house will officially be on the Market on April 1st (my great grandpa’s 100th Birthday!). This weekend, and coming week, we will wrap up the packing and finish staging our home.
At first I was super excited to move, but as we’re going through things and packing, I noticed that I’m getting sad about it, too. This was our first home as a family, so it’s hard to see us anywhere else. It’s in a great area and neighborhood with so much to offer. It’s just that we’ve outgrown it. I know it’s time to move – if we can get our asking price, of course. If not, the worst case scenario would be that we take the house off the market and wait for a better time. Our Realtor and another sales rep, both, told us that this is a good time, so I feel good about it. I knew these mixed emotions would surface and that’s part of the process.
When we moved from our college apartment, we were so happy to get out of that place! We didn’t really feel bad for moving. This time is different. We’ve invested time, love and money into making this house a home. In this case, bigger will be better for us if we want to grow our family.
As far as house hunting goes, we’ve toggled between the idea of a new home vs. old home. Both have really great things to offer, so it’s difficult to make a decision. The most difficult part for me, is deciding on the location. There are a few communities that we like, but the location isn’t ideal. Give and take I suppose. We have a lot to think about, like location, school districts, home size and layout, commute to work, proximity to stores, hospitals, etc. It’s a bit overwhelming, but very exciting, too.
I’ll keep you posted on this crazy and fun adventure that we’re embarking on!

Mar, 13Two More Weeks
In two more weeks one of my dearest friends is coming from Memphis to visit. I can’t wait to see her! We have a whole day planned to take photos around Denver. She just got a new camera, so what better place to practice?! Then, she’s lucky enough to have Easter fall on her Birthday this year, so she’s coming along to Sunrise Services in Red Rocks with my family and I. It’s going to be a fun-packed weekend! The only thing I’m not too excited about is that I’ll get my braces on the day before she comes, so our meal plans have changed to soft foods only. Sorry Jess!
We’re still busy prepping the house and getting ready to put it officially on the Market soon, too. So much to do in so little time. How about you, any big plans lately?

Mar, 13The Weekend
This past weekend was full of packing and moving things to storage, as well as house hunting. I forgot how tired this process makes you. We took breaks to eat and for ice cream, but then back to it. We plan to have our house on the market in early April, so things are moving quickly. It’s a strange place to be when you’re selling your current home to move, because we haven’t even found a new one yet. It’s scary to think about all of the options. We can sell right away and not have a new home, or we can find a new home and not sell. It’s a bit stressful, but equally exciting. We’re on our way to a new adventure.
With that said, this next couple of weeks, I’ll be doing less crafting and more packing. In our attempt to properly stage our home, I have to thin out my studio space. Eek! A lot of my supplies are going into storage, but once we stage the home, I can craft again. It’s a good thing, too, because inventory is low and I have a Spring craft market in May!
Oh, and I have to squeeze in a couple of visits from out-of-town friends – which I’m so excited about! As, well as get my braces put on… It’s a busy time, but very exciting and fulfilling. What does the beginning of Spring look like for you?

Mar, 13It’s Official
It’s Official, I’m getting braces to correct one tooth – can you believe it?! I go in on March 28th to get them put on and then in April I’ll have my wisdom teeth pulled (which are still under the gums… hahaha) – Ouch! I thought they had to pull the teeth first, but after confirming with both the Orthodontist and Oral Surgeon, we’re good to go in the opposite order. The sooner I get them on, the sooner I can get them off. I’m naturally nervous, as I’ve never had braces before, but I’m equally excited to get this rolling.
It’s such a busy time for us, so I’m glad that I can check this off of my to-do list very soon. How about you, have you been able to check off some things?

Mar, 13Four Finger Fundraiser
So, the Perrodin family, of Perrodin Supply Co., in Supply Co., needs your help. Jonathan lost his right index finger in a miter saw accident while working in the shop. If you’d like to help support them in this difficult time, visit this Big Cartel shop where you can purchase donated items from people like Moorea Seal, Tumbleweeds HC, Forage Haberdashery and so many more! Or you can just donate any amount that you see fit. Proceeds go to Jonathan, Amber and their family. This is how they make a living, so any help would be appreciated. I just purchased some beautiful earrings that were made and donated by Moorea Seal. So, get over there and check out what they have! Thanks!

Mar, 13Shop Update
I’ve been working so hard to get new products made for the shop. It’s been a busy time, but I love it! I just made these two headbands (both one-of-a-kind) with vintage buttons that I found at a quilt fair over the summer. I’ll be posting more products soon, so I’ll keep you posted.

Mar, 13Happy Birthday, Babies!
Our beautiful fur-babies are growing up so fast! Miss Frankie Li is turning 5 years old today, Sir Tucker Bean turned 4 years old last month along with Sir Brutus James, who turned 9 years old! They bring so much joy to our lives and I enjoy every minute spent with them. I love you!

Mar, 13{Life Lately} Baby Fang
Although I’ve been getting a lot done, I feel like I still have so much to do. I’m thrilled to have the new Chickiedee site up and running, and I’m working feverishly to re-stock the shop. Aside from all of that, Ron and I have been doing a bit of early Spring cleaning as well as making a few big decisions. If we want to grow our family, we really need a larger home. After nearly 7 years, we’ve outgrown our current one – correction, I’ve out grown our current one. I have so many hobbies and things, that I’ve done a good job filling up our home on my own, hahaha. So, we met with our amazing Realtor last Friday to get the ball rolling on selling… and buying a new one. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
Then, I’ve recently been into the Orthodontist a couple of times for a consultation, x-rays, molds, etc. You see, I’ve been super lucky growing up by having straight teeth, but I’ve had a baby fang all this time and a few years ago the adult one came in behind it! Sharp as ever, too. That adult fang pierces my tongue once in a while – ouch! I had a consultation when the adult fang first came in. They estimated nearly $10k and 18 months. Eek! So, I kept putting the idea of braces on hold, because that was way too much and way too long. Plus, I don’t want to look like a twelve year-old… again. Well, after some encouragement from the Mr. I decided to go in for a second opinion. I’m glad I did, too. I should expect to have them on for about 9 months, and at a fraction of the cost. Although I haven’t given the green light, I think I’m leaning toward yes. I thought I had dodged the bullet of having to get braces. Darn. I’ll keep you posted on what I decide to do. Have you had braces? Any advice?
