Personal Chanllenge: 365 Self-Portraits {1-3/365}

So, as you may know, I just celebrated my 28th Birthday on Saturday!  Yikes!  I can’t believe how each year seems to fly by faster than the next.  Don’t worry though, I’m enjoying every bit of it.

Last Friday I was browsing the Internet and I came across Elsie’s “5 Tips for Better Self Portraits.”  I was able to take so much from that post and I want to thank her for sharing.  In step 4, Elsie briefly touched on how she tried the 365 Self Portrait Challenge and it inspired me to try.  I know it will be hard to continuously think of fresh and creative ways to capture myself and what makes me unique, but I’m up for it.  I think it will only make my image captures that much better in the future.  Plus, it will be fun to see if I change at all in one years time.

I chose to start on my 28th Birthday this year (October 1st)… I thought it was fitting (smile).  So far, I have these three images.  Stay tuned for the next batch and wish me luck!

3 Year Wedding Anni!

Wow!  I really can’t believe that it has been 3 years, today, since I married the Mr.  Looking back, it truely was our dream wedding!  I have always loved weddings, but nothing compares to your own, really.  I remember a whirlwind of events and people swirling around me, but I was also able to focus on Ron and I joining lives forever.  It was a beautiful feeling.  I remember going into the day thinking to myself, “don’t cry too hard.”  When the time came to walk down the aisle with my mom on one arm and my dad on the other, I was shocked that only smiles came… no tears at all!  I was just so happy and excited to marry Ron, that there was no room for tears.  As I approached the alter, I realized my “tough” hubby-to-be was all teary-eyed.  Awwwww… it meant a lot to see him like that, because he doesn’t cry.  I knew at that moment that he loved me more than ever and I felt the same.  But why wasn’t I crying?!  I thought everyone would think that I was insensitive.  I had to quickly snap out of that mindset and focus, “I’m not crying because I too stinkin’ happy, that’s why!”  haha After that, I made sure to listen to all of the vows and everything around me.  I wanted to absorb that moment and remember it forever.  It was such a magical day and now each year I get to relive a piece of it over and over with him.

I have a surprise for Ron for our wedding anni, but it isn’t until this Sunday.  I’ll be sure to share it with you next week, as not to spoil the big event!

rainy day

If you don’t know already, Colorado is known for its unpredictable weather.  Today was a great example, because it was 95°F about an hour ago and now it’s down-pouring!!  I’m not complaining though, we need the moisture and I love the cool down.  I’m making great use of this time and I’m back in the studio working hard to get all of the new products ready for the new shop updates coming in August.  Oh, there will be a SALE this August too, so be sure to watch out for that. (smile)

I’ll probably head to the store later for a few more supplies, and then I’ll get my tail back to work.  Enjoy the rest of your evening and I’ll chat with you soon.

In The Mountains

This past weekend I was up in the mountains, just north of Boulder at my dad’s house.  It was a much needed time off.  I was just able to focus on family, fun and food!  We all did a bit of fishing (I must confess that I pretend to fish, because I don’t want to hurt the fishies), light hiking, and riding on the ATV’s/Mule.  We had nearly 700 acres at our fingertips, and man did we run all over that place!  The dogs loved it up there too.  Down in the city, there are so many distractions that completely throw them off, but up there they are free.  No leashes there, just open-range.  We decided to leave Brutus home; to give him a break from the pups.  As he basked in the A/C, we were enjoying the great outdoors.  We also ate way too much.  Both of my parents have always cooked for an army and they do a great job at that!  One of the highlights was making homemade french fries with my pops.  Great time spent and yummy too.

The above image of that large fishing box belonged to my grandpa.  Both my great-grandpa and grandpa have always been amazing fishermen and they took such great care of all of their fishing supplies.  I think it’s pretty cool that my dad has them to share with us too.  Family is the most important thing to me.  I cherish every moment with each and every one of my family members.  I’m truly blessed.

I hope you enjoyed the above photos and a peek into my weekend.  If you can, please go camping or hiking this summer — it’s worth it, I promise!

Robblins

My Robblins Series is officially for sale in the shop!  Each 5 in. x 5 in. acrylic on canvas piece is hand-painted by me and they are all my original designs.  I started doodling these little fellas all over the place and then when a friend invited me to hang in one of his art shows earlier this year, I figured that was the perfect opportunity to showcase these.  Now, you can have them too!

This weeks plan…

Happy Monday!  Yesterday was wonderful, it was mine and my hubby’s 8 year anniversary of being together.  We made great use of our day.  We poked around the house doing a bit more Spring Cleaning and gathered a huge donation pile.  Then he bought me Abracadabra roses and an Aux cable that I’ve been wanting for quite some time (he knows me too well).  I took him to a French Restaurant here in Denver, and after that we went to a late movie to see Limitless.  All in all, it was a great day!

As for this upcoming week, I plan on being very busy.  I have a couple of little meetups, but hopefully I can squeeze coffee in with a friend and lots and lots of crafty time!  I have a few projects in the works that I will be sharing soon.  I plan on creating new one-piece designs and I will get some headbands made and in the shop.  In addition, I will be working on an Easter Shawl for the cold and early Sunrise Services held at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO.  My mom, cousin, myself and sometimes my lil brother all go each year.  This year we may have another friend attend.  My mom, cousin and I are all making our own shawls to keep us extra warm, as some years it tends to snow and the whole event is outside.  I plan on making mine with chickie fabric on the outside and a super soft minky on the inside.  Fingers crossed that it turns out!

So, that’s the plan for this week.  It looks to be busy, but fun!

{photo friday} vol.1

Happy Friday!  I love photography and all that goes with it.  I’m always snapping new shots of whatever throughout the week and thought to myself, why not share them?!  So, I decided to create {photo friday} to share what I’ve captured.  I’m so excited to see everything compiled in one place.  Let’s see where it goes.  Well, enough chit chat, enjoy…

Clockwise: sweet little fox that I saw in my mom’s neighborhood; Starbucks sign while visiting with a gal pal; My lil bro assisting in making fresh mozzarella at Johnson & Wales; My newest haircut – I love it!; Frankie and Tucker at the dog park for Frankie, Angel and Dimitri’s 3rd Birthday; a butterfly bouquet that my hubby, Ron, surprised me with.

mini art show

A friend of ours hosted a mini art show in LoHi Friday night and I was lucky enough to hang a few of the pieces that I’ve been working on.  We had a wonderful time looking at all of the other art works and mingling amongst family and friends.  We had so much support and it was such a  special evening.

These original paintings (by yours truely) and a few others will be for sale in the shop early next month, so be sure to stop by then.
