Wow!  I really can’t believe that it has been 3 years, today, since I married the Mr.  Looking back, it truely was our dream wedding!  I have always loved weddings, but nothing compares to your own, really.  I remember a whirlwind of events and people swirling around me, but I was also able to focus on Ron and I joining lives forever.  It was a beautiful feeling.  I remember going into the day thinking to myself, “don’t cry too hard.”  When the time came to walk down the aisle with my mom on one arm and my dad on the other, I was shocked that only smiles came… no tears at all!  I was just so happy and excited to marry Ron, that there was no room for tears.  As I approached the alter, I realized my “tough” hubby-to-be was all teary-eyed.  Awwwww… it meant a lot to see him like that, because he doesn’t cry.  I knew at that moment that he loved me more than ever and I felt the same.  But why wasn’t I crying?!  I thought everyone would think that I was insensitive.  I had to quickly snap out of that mindset and focus, “I’m not crying because I too stinkin’ happy, that’s why!”  haha After that, I made sure to listen to all of the vows and everything around me.  I wanted to absorb that moment and remember it forever.  It was such a magical day and now each year I get to relive a piece of it over and over with him.

I have a surprise for Ron for our wedding anni, but it isn’t until this Sunday.  I’ll be sure to share it with you next week, as not to spoil the big event!

So, this weekend is my friend’s Bridal Shower, and we have been planning it for over a month now!  It’s getting down to the wire and I’m wrapping up the Smile Booth.  I can’t share what I’ve made yet, I don’t want Jessica to see the finished product before her big party, but here are a few things from smilebooth.com that inspired me.  I’m not making anything like these, but I also thought it would be great to give a shout out to the smilebooth.com!

I stumbled upon Pinhole Press a few weeks ago and really want to get one of these printed up!  I love the idea of having a personal note pad handy.  The best part is that they are not too pricey at all and they would make great gifts.  These nifty notepads are not all they do, so be sure to check them out here.

I was honored when my amazing friend, Jessica, asked me to design her wedding invitations and programs!  I’m so excited to actually get started.  In the meantime, I’ve been browsing around for some inspiration to get those creative juices flowing (as if they weren’t already lol).  Here are some beauties that I came across recently…

I love how bridal headpieces are not only staying from the long traditional veil, but also how they are combining vintage and modern properties.  I made my own veil for our wedding and never looked back.  At the time, I could only seem to find the longer veils which were far from my style.  They work for many brides, just not me.  We had a 1940′s inspired wedding, so French Netting was the way to go.  I remember how one of the shop assistants at the bridal store kept trying to persuade me to buy a long veil.  She didn’t think headbands and barrettes were the way to go… but look at these beauties!

Today I wanted to chat a bit about wedding photography.  One of my dearest friends is going to be walking down the aisle in just a few months, and I couldn’t be more happy for her.  I believe that having a photographer is very important, but not everyone can afford a professional one.  This is completely okay!  My pal is lucky enough to have a few friends who know a thing or two about photography, so she doesn’t have to skip out on the whole photography session altogether.  Our wedding photos are priceless to us, because a lot of moments where captured, that we didn’t actually experience the day of the wedding.  We have the chance to relive the day again and again.

We did have a professional photographer, and we still didn’t get the shots that we had discussed prior to the wedding with our photographer.  So, having friends and family pitch in to capture your big day wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.  They might have better insight on who to photograph and at what times.  Whether or not you’re thinking of having a professional or your pals do the photography, here are a few things to think about:

• Meet with them prior to the wedding and make a list of what you want shots of.  Be sure to mention everything from the close-ups to the family shots.  (Ron and I did this, and we were still very disappointed in our photographer for not listening, but it’s still a good idea to do.)

• Make sure your photograpgher has back-up batteries, lenses, etc.  Things can go wrong and if they do, your photograpgher should be prepared.

• Be sure that your photographer turns off the sound to the camera.  The beeping can be very distracting, especially in those intimate moments.

• Your photographer must be able to take charge, but not be mean.  Be sure not to pick a pal that is quiet and shy, because you will not get the photos you deserve.  You need someone who can give clear direction, without being rude.  They should also be able to have fun!

• Lighting is key, so be sure that you pal knows this!  I can’t stress this enough.  Your photographer needs to know how to bounce the light off of other surfaces, because your flash is often not enough.  Or it can be too harsh.

• Have your photographer mix up the angles.  Have them shoot from up high, down low, or at an angel to capture the feel of the moment.  This will add depth and character to your album later on.  Continuous shooting mode can also be very useful.  This way every moment is caught.

I simply love color and it seems that the latest bridal style does too!  What better way to make a lasting impression.  I mean, the color of these shoes really pop against the white gown.  I really wish I would have thought of this 2 years ago.  If I had, I think I would have chosen some gold glittery heels.  I had the traditional white, white turned out beautiful, but this would have been so fun!  I do love my white shoes more now though, because my mom and I had to search everywhere (and drive a long distance) to find the perfect ones that I had envisioned.

My love for weddings all started about 3 years ago, when I got to plan my very own.  I’ve always loved to go to weddings and my mom actually is a silk flower wedding designer, so I’ve always been around them.  But, something changed when I got to plan our wedding.  I began gathering all sorts of inspirational images from magazines and websites.  Then I compiled them into a book with notes (we’re talking in great detail).  Now, after being married for a little over 2 years, I still find myself inspired by wedding imagery and all that goes with it.

So, I thought that I could share all things about weddings that inspire me in {wedding wednesday} posts!

What better way than to start the first {wedding wednesday}, than with photos of our wedding…

We are simply in L.O.V.E with the 1920′s-1950′s era, so naturally our wedding would reflect that.  We had everything from Zoot Suits to Swing Dancing… it was so magical.

I’ve never seen anything like these unique and fabulous Brooch Bouquets that were featured on Ruffled.  They are non-floral bouquets made from vintage brooches, meaning no two are the same!!  Cool, right?!

As you already know, I adore chickies, so when I came across these precious pewter mealtime-mates, I just knew I had to share! Don’t you just love the backs of the spoons?!
